Chime Clocks and the Different Types

If you are one of those several people who love the relaxing sound of the classical music and its harmonious rhythm, then you also probably love to hear the sound of chime clocks. It is a classic and antique feeling, remembering that these were constant fixtures in our grandparents’ house. You will never feel nostalgic or alone because you will always have a companion, one that beats every half an hour and every hour. It’s the sound you will always hear 24 hours each and every day making you feel stable and secure.
Chime clocks are not new inventions. In fact, they are antique. There may be new inventions today that have been categorized as a chime clock all with the new designs and innovations. But when you hear the “chime clock,” what always comes to mind is the classic chime clock. They are always special furniture additions anywhere, in the home or in the office or just about anywhere else.
Types of Chime Clocks
There are now different styles and designs of chime clocks. The first type is the bracket mantel chime clock type. They are called as such because they can be used on a shelf, a small table, or the center table in the living room. This type is usually made from stained pine wood. If this kind of chime clock is properly maintained, it can live a longer life, longer than your own even. There are also clocks of this type having a straight pendulum, nothing else at the end, just this straight metal hanging piece.
There are also other types of a chime clock that are large and can be set to stand on the floor. These types have pendulums and are regularly about six feet tall. Newer designs of this type of chime clock had the pendulum shaped into a swirl or an arrowhead. There are also other standing chime clocks that have a hanging piece, which is not a pendulum and one that require winding just like winding the window blinds. When you pull the string or chain, the hanging piece will have to end up at the top of the chime clock just under the time piece. The chain now moves gradually down as it chimes every hour and will have to be wind again after it rings on the twelfth hour. Other types may have no pendulums below.
A Great Addition to the Home or Office
A chime clock truly varies in size and shape. Even the wood that covers it would also vary. Others have stained wood in it, while others are just painted. There are some that are printed with different colors and some just plain and simple. Others are perfectly matched with a kitchen, living room, or study and others are finished elegantly to match the sophistication of the office. There are also some that have an arching top, while others are square and flat and still others have intricate designs. However it looks like, chime clocks make perfect additions to compliment your home or your office.
